OUTBOUND · RAIL + FERRY

Salzburg Hbf → Hallstatt village

  1. Take an ÖBB train from Salzburg Hbf to Attnang-Puchheim.
  2. Change to the regional train towards Stainach-Irdning and get off at Hallstatt Bahnhof.
  3. Walk from the station down to the lakeside ferry landing.
  4. Take the ferry across the lake to Hallstatt village.
The railway station is across the lake from the village. The ferry is the normal final connection; don't plan to walk from the station into the village.
RETURN · FERRY + RAIL

Hallstatt village → Salzburg Hbf

  1. Take the ferry back to Hallstatt Bahnhof.
  2. Board the train towards Attnang-Puchheim.
  3. Change at Attnang-Puchheim for Salzburg Hbf.
Allow a generous buffer between ferry arrival and train departure. Missing the train can mean a long wait, especially on a public holiday.

Important for 1 January

New Year's Day is a public holiday. The precise 2027 train and ferry timetable must be checked against the operator's published holiday schedules closer to travel.

Do not rely on an ordinary weekday timetable or assume the ferry waits for a delayed train.
